Recently, we completed the Newtown Job, a metal roof replacement that included a variety of services to ensure the home was protected and looked great. We started by removing the old roof sheeting and remaining slate, but we didn’t throw the slate away. Instead, we saved it for the customer, so they could repurpose it however they wished. It’s always important to be environmentally conscious, and we believe in doing what we can to reduce waste.
Once the old roofing was removed, we supplied and installed treated timber battening with galvanised fixings. This is a crucial step in ensuring that the new roofing is properly secured and will last for years to come. We also provided foil backed anti-condensation insulation blanket to improve the home’s insulation, helping to keep it warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
For the metal roofing, we supplied and installed custom Orb, Colorbond roof sheeting in the color Monument, .55 required flashings in the same color, and Bremick B8 class 5 fixings. The color and style of the new roofing matched the home’s existing aesthetic, and the quality of the materials ensures that the roof will be protected from the elements for years to come.
But the Newtown Job wasn’t just about the metal roof replacement. We also replaced three skylights – two at the rear of the main roof and one over the kitchen. Skylights are a great way to bring natural light into your home and can make any room feel more spacious and inviting. We removed the old skylights and installed new Velux opening and fixed skylights, depending on the customer’s needs. The new skylights not only look great, but they also improve the overall functionality of the home.
Additionally, we replaced the rear polycarbonate roof by removing the existing polycarbonate roof sheeting and installing new sheeting with required flashings. Polycarbonate roofing is a great option for areas where natural light is important, but where traditional glass would be too heavy or difficult to install. We made sure that the new polycarbonate roofing was properly installed, with all required flashings in place to prevent any leaks or damage.
Finally, we supplied and installed a leaf screener to keep the gutters free of debris. Gutters are an essential part of any roofing system, and it’s important to keep them clear to prevent water damage to your home. The leaf screener is an easy and effective way to keep your gutters clean and in good working order.
